I’ve been prone to make rash decisions in my life.
Like the time I decided to move to Atlanta to live with my half-brother and become the GM of his masonry business… with ZERO construction experience!
Yet there I was, 6 months later, with my hardhat in tow, visiting construction sites and learning how to do take-off estimates of blueprints to come up with a proper bid estimate.
I actually got pretty good at it and we even won a contract from the state!
Needless to say, that adventure was short-lived as I found myself 2 years later on a plane back to New York to live with my parents.
Do I have regrets about that decision? In retrospect, no. I ended up meeting my (now ex) wife and making a bunch of new friends.
I’ve always been open for new experiences and sometimes end up jumping in feet first, without always thinking through the repercussions.
Such is the case with this newsletter.
Back in 2020, I decided to start a personal newsletter on Substack. Posts were sporadic for a few months.
It was then that I discovered Dan Koe. He’s a prolific writer who went on to become an inspiration for me to restart my newsletter.
I had just discovered a new email platform, beehiiv, which had a lot of new features I didn’t see on Substack.
So, I merged my current marketing list with my small Substack audience and managed to maintain a weekly cadence with the rebranded A Life Worth Living for almost 2 years.
And then I ran out of gas.
Rediscovering an Old Friend
I’ve recently been spending some time using the new Notes feature on Substack and it’s having me rethink my decision.
As cool as some of the beehiiv features are, I’m really not looking to grow this to hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
I’d rather build a small audience of dedicated readers and if possible, adding features exclusive to paid members.
So I’ll likely be porting this audience back there for yet another experiment. I’ll keep you updated on the progress.
And if you’re a Substacker, reach out and connect with me:
We’ll continue the conversation here.
I’d love to hear about your stories about trying new things outside your comfort zone!
With gratitude,
Harry
