Every letter I share a story about my life in a way that you can hopefully relate to. I believe we are all here to share our journey, both the highs and the lows, as this is how we collectively raise the consciousness of the planet. If anything resonates with you, please share! 🙏
How many times in your life have you had uncomfortable moments that felt like they were going to last forever?
Think back to those moments.
I’m betting that while you were in the thick of it, it likely felt like shit. And it may have felt like you were never going to come out of it.
This might be one of those moments, by the time you’re done with this letter.
I was recently pointed to Dan Koe’s most recent letter (thank you Natalie! 🙏)
Regular readers of these letters might recognize Dan as the inspiration for this new format.
His most recent post hit home hard. So hard that it inspired this letter to you.
It’s titled ‘The Uncertainty Crisis (Why Everyone Feels So Lost)’. I’ve dropped a link to it below.
It will likely make you very uncomfortable. And that may be enough for you to say, “Harry, what the fuck?! Why would I WANT to make myself uncomfortable?”
Maybe it’s because everything you’ve tried up until this point with regards to _____ hasn’t worked, and it’s time to try something new.
The origins of Dan’s letter this week was a chat he was having with his mother.
As mothers are prone to do, she asked:
Why don’t you go out and have some fun?
To which Dan responded:
“Well…
Nothing is as fun as what I do every single day.
That question assumes that doing anything is more enjoyable than the same old stuff, but the same old stuff is what leads to meaning, presence, and flow. Operating at your peak capacity is so much more enjoyable than constantly tapping pleasurable distractions to fill the void in your soul.”
Ooof.
There are so many gems in this post, a few below that resonated strongly:
“You have the same mind as your parents, who have the same mind as theirs, who have the same mind as theirs.
Unless… someone in that family tree questioned their beliefs and sought a better way of doing things.”
Yup, that one hits home, for sure.
Another one that may resonate for you:
“Lack meaning and fulfillment? It’s because you work a job where the challenge in your work has stopped. You work for people you don’t care about selling a product you don’t care about that drains your energy creating a life you don’t care about.”
In this incredibly thought-provoking letter Dan explains how many people feel lost and dissatisfied because they follow societal expectations instead of focusing on their unique goals.
Dan lays out why it’s important for everyone reading this to regain a sense of purpose, and why it’s essential to prioritize self-education, personal improvement, and problem-solving.
It’s a jolting reminder that you, and only you are responsible for your life.
By setting new standards and taking control of your life, you CAN create a more fulfilling existence.
This is something I think about almost daily now. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I joined the Dharma Artist Collective, a group created by Erick Godsey. It’s been life-changing.
This morning we started a new 45-day challenge and it’s going to continue to push me out of my comfort zone for sure.
But that is exactly where the growth happens. And I’m excited to see what happens at the end of these 45 days. I’ll be sharing part of the journey here, for sure, so stay tuned.
Otherwise, you’ll be seeing relevant posts on Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn & YouTube, so follow the journey there as well.
Sometimes we need to do hard shit to grow. And that’s not easy. But I implore you to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Daily. I don’t care if you’re 16 or 64. If you think your best days are behind you, or you’re ‘too late’, you’re wrong.
Here’s the link to Dan’s letter. I recommend setting aside 30 minutes of uninterrupted time to really let the message sink in.
And if you can’t find 30 minutes of uninterrupted time, then that might speak to a bigger problem.
I’d love to hear which part of his letter (or this one) resonated the most with you!
With gratitude,
🙏 Harry
👋 what i’ve published recently…
In this episode of the Vertical Farming Podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting with Kendra Armstrong, the co-founder and CEO of Crop Convergence. We dove into her fascinating journey from growing up on a farm in Indiana to becoming a startup founder in the ag-tech space. She shared some great stories about her early days shoveling hog manure, her decision to pursue plant breeding, and the moment she realized she wanted to start her own company. Plus, her dogs Sprite and Yogi made a special appearance!
