I’m uncomfortable online.

I realize this may sound weird coming from a guy that’s been sending you weekly emails for the past 8+ months.

You’ll notice that in the majority of my social shares there’s one thing conspicuously missing.

My face.

To be honest, it’s something I haven’t felt comfortable doing for some time. A lot of that can be attributed to things that were going on in my life. Big life changes.

I’m now aware that I needed that time to go inwards, work through those dark night of the soul moments, and keep working on myself.

By no means is this journey done with. To best articulate my thoughts on it, I thought I would share this week’s Instagram post, which is the first one I’ve shared with photos in a while. Specifically my pics from that experience, which I’ve shared in a previous letter.

Taking a Small Step Outside

Finally feeling clear enough to post about a life changing event I experienced a few weeks ago in Brinnon, WA with @sacredsons

I'd been following the account for some time, and after working through a bit of trepidation, I finally felt called to sign up.

The 3-day experience was a chance to connect with like-minded, and more importantly, like-hearted men, all committed to show up and do the work of meeting and pushing through our edges.

I definitely met my edge on several occasions and continue to do so, even with this post.

I have had to do so much work to get to this point, and yet feel like I'm just getting started.

While I was certainly riding a high following the event, reality at some point does set in and I'm reminded that this integration is by no means a 'one and done'.

I'm still painfully aware of the work that's required, but helpful to this experience for cracking open the doors to my heart.

And while they tend to close quickly, I now have more tools to find my way back.

A recent Sacred Sons podcast episode with one of the leaders from the retreat Hunter Toran really resonated with me in light of this experience.

He was asked, "What does it mean to be a Natural Man?"

Hunter: "Listen to Breath. Listen to that first intuitive thought and move with it. Understand the scale of what we are part of and look for our place in it. Where is our burden? Where is our struggle? How does that lead us to our service?"

Still healing.

Still finding new edges.

1 step forward, 2 steps back.

2 steps forward, 1 step back.

Ultimately, I AM aware that the Universe rewards forward momentum

I don't have all the answers by any means, but I AM committed to the work.
